Balloon Badminton

It’s been a little chilly here, so we decided to have a little fun indoors by playing some balloon badminton. We found this fun activity over at one of my favorite blogs, hands on: as we grow.

Supplies:

  • Paper plate
  • Popsicle stick (we used ones that were wider in size)
  • Crayons (optional)
  • Balloons
  • Glue gun and/or Stapler

Directions:

I decided to extend this activity by having the kids design their “badminton racket” first.

I just love how focused she looks in this pic.

Next, I used a glue gun to glue the popsicle stick to the back of the paper plate (since it dries a lot faster than regular glue).  However, my son managed to break his popsicle stick off twice.  So I later reinforced it with staples, which seemed to work great.

All set and ready for fun!
My daughter really got into the game…she LOVED this activity.

I just loved how my son used all his strength to hit the balloon.

He also tried to see how long he could keep the balloon up in the air, without it hitting the ground.

We definitely practiced our hand/eye coordination and balance by doing this fun activity!
