Pinkalicious Playdough Cupcakes

Creekside Learning recently did an entire post on “learning with Pinkalicious”.  It inspired me to have some Pinkalicious fun with my daughter since it is one of her favorite books.  I decided to have her make Pinkalicious cupcakes with playdough just like Creekside Learning did…but we took it a step further and added some fun embellishments.

  • 1 cup white flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoon cream of tartar (find it in the spice section)
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup water
  • pink food coloring

For Pinkalicious cupcakes:

  • Craft pom poms
  • Glitter
  • Curly ribbon
  • Cupcake liners

First mix 1 cup of white flour, 1/2 cup of salt, 2 tablespoons cream of tartar and 1 tablespoon oil in a pan. Then add 1 cup of water and mix well.  Add pink food coloring…I think we added about 7 drops. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 3 – 5 minutes. Dough will become difficult to stir and form a “clump”.  Remove from stove and knead for 5 minutes.

My daughter has her Pinkalicious book for inspiration on how to make her cupcakes.

I must warn you…my daughter loved the glitter and I probably gave her more than she needed.  So our
playdough really sparkles. 😉

We put some cupcake liners in a cupcake pan and added some pink playdough “cupcakes” to them.  Then we added a craft pom pom for the “cherry”.

Add some “sprinkles” (glitter) to the top of the cupcake.

Okay…maybe we will generously apply some “sprinkles” to the cupcake. 😉

Then add a curly ribbon for the fancy “icing” decor.

Arrange them nicely on a platter…

Then serve them to your special guests and hope they don’t turn PINK!

Aren’t they cute?

After your child is done playing….you’ll have some glittery playdough to play with later. You can store it for a long time by putting it in a covered plastic container or plastic sandwich bag.
