Pine Cone Bird Feeder

My kids are constantly collecting pine cones, so I decided to put them to use to feed all our wonderful feathered friends that visit our backyard.  These pine cone bird feeders are simple to make and it’s definitely fun watching all the different birds that come to visit.

Supplies:

  • Pine cone
  • String
  • Peanut putter
  • Birdseed
  • Paper plate
  • Spoon

Directions:

First, securely tie your string around the pine cone.

Working over a paper plate, we used a spoon to spread peanut butter inside the pine cone.

Make sure you get the peanut butter all around the edges too.

Next, sprinkle the birdseed around the pine cone, making sure all the peanut butter is covered in seed.

Then hang your pine cone bird feeders in a tree.

And wait for your feathered friends to enjoy their treat!

Check out the other bird feeders that we’ve made with toilet paper rolls and cookie cutters.
